Annual Kid’s Birdhouse Treasure Hunt
In June of 2021, HVIA hosted a Birdhouse Treasure Hunt for young and old. Starting at the Happy Valley School, detectives were given a series of poetic clues and then went on hikes to discover the details of the unique birdhouses in our community. They were rewarded with lemonade and snacks along the way. They later turned in their completed clues to win a Happy Valley merit badge, some homemade cookies and a chance to win a birdhouse of their very own.

Since 2006, HVIA has been distributing daffodil bulbs to neighbors in Happy Valley in a Daffodil Bulb Giveaway Program, subsidized by Orchard Nursery and available to anyone in our community. HVIA volunteers will be on hand at Happy Valley school in early October every year to distribute 1,000’s of daffodil bulbs and answer any questions you have about planting.

Parts of the 4.5-mile trail loop that gently meanders from Happy Valley Road at Mt. Diablo Blvd to Upper Happy Valley down to El Nido Ranch Road and through the EBMUD property across from the reservoir were built by HVIA in 1960 and are now maintained either through our advocating with the city for improvements or our getting out...
If you walk along the path, you will see many bird and owl houses dotting the landscape. There will also be quail carvings or other subtle homages to wildlife to beautify our stop signs, street signs and corners. These beautiful artworks are donated by Greg Moeller and give our community a unique and welcoming setting.

In the past, HVIA has hosted a variety of community events, including an annual meeting (to be rebooted after Covid restrictions), an Octoberfest, wine tasting at local wineries, a community cleanup work day and other fun ways to get involved and meet neighbors.
